The
Care Bears were originally characters on a line
of greeting cards from American Greetings. Each represents
a different feeling or emotion, which they wear a
symbol of on their round tummies. Stuffed animals and
plastic figures were made of the 10 original Care Bears
and then The Care Bear Movie introduced the Care Bear
Cousins, other animals. The Care Bears live in Care-A-Lot,
a city in the clouds, watching our world from above.
When they see a child that needs help, they will come
down and bring them friendship and love. The original
Care Bears are Tenderheart, Love-a-Lot, Cheer, Friend,
Funshine, Birthday, Good Luck, Wish, Bedtime, and Grumpy Bear.
The Care Bear Cousins include Braveheart Lion and Brightheart Racoon.
Care
Bears have recently made a come back! New
stuffed animals and figures are now available. They are
pretty close to the original design. So far only the original
10 characters are out there, with the exception of Birthday
who has been replaced with Share Bear, who is purple with
two suckers symbol.
Here
is a photo of my Care Bears collection. The
figures in the front are originals from the 80's and the
stuffed Wish Bear, lunchbox and stickers in the back are new.
